Workshops

We offer two pre-meeting workshops. They are open to everyone registered for the EPC meeting and will be arranged in Grieghallen Convention Center on Wednesday June 26th. There is no fee, but registration via the EPC 2019 registration page is mandatory. For YOUPPIE members, there will also be a possibility of “Breakfast with the Mentor”. Please see below.

YOUPPIE/HPSG Joint Symposium on Clinical Research (09.30-13.30)

The Young Pancreatologist Platform in Europe (YOUPPIE) and the Hungarian Pancreatic Study Group (HPSG) will arrange a symposium on clinical research in pancreatology. The aim is to promote multicenter efforts to answer clinically relevant questions. Currently, single center studies are of limited value, and this event intends to facilitate the communication between pancreatologists to develop collaborative studies. In the symposium, young pancreatologists will be given the opportunity to explain their research projects, to interact with other pancreatologists and to recruit collaborators. A detailed program will follow in May.
The symposium is organized by Enrique de-Madaria (Alicante) and Péter Hegyi (Pécs).

Tools of the Trade in Pancreatic Biology (10.00-13.30)

This basic science workshop is intended for everyone who wants to learn more about methods, models and processes in pancreatic biology. A team of internationally renowned scientists will give educational lectures introducing their favorite topics and also presenting some newer results. A detailed program will follow in April.
The symposium is organized by Minoti Apte (Sydney), Maria Vaccaro (Buenos Aires) and Anders Molven (Bergen).

Breakfast with the mentor

On Thursday June 27th there will be a “Breakfast with the mentor” open for YOUPPIE members. YOUPPIE aims to bring together young pancreatologists with a mentor who is widely recognized in the field. This year´s guest mentor will be Marco del Chiaro (Chief of Surgical Oncology and Director of the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Program, University of Colorado).
This mentor breakfast is intended to encourage informal discussions around various topics including research interests and career prospects for young pancreatologists. Coffee, tea, juice and buns/other baked goods will be served. A limited number of slots are available on a first come-first served basis. YOUPPIES are invited to join this opportunity to meet and quiz the mentor, and may apply via a link that will be announced here later.
